If you’re already dreaming about where your fly rod (and maybe your passport) will take you next, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years yet at Tuckaseegee Fly Shop. From local mountain streams to legendary western rivers and the wild waters of Patagonia, we’ve built a calendar that blends hometown fishing with once-in-a-lifetime adventures.
Here’s a look at what’s ahead:
❄️ February: Yellowstone Sledding Trips (snowmobile)
We’re kicking off the year in a big way with our annual sledding trips to Yellowstone. This is winter adventure at its finest—snow mobiles, pristine landscapes, wildlife, and unforgettable scenery. While fishing takes a back seat on this trip, the experience of seeing Yellowstone in winter is something every outdoors lover should do at least once. This is done in partnership with our friends at the Goldenstone Inn in West Yellowstone, Montana.
🎣 March: Delayed Harvest Stocking Begins
Closer to home, March marks one of our favorite times of the year: the start of Delayed Harvest stocking. This is when our local waters really come alive, offering incredible opportunities for anglers of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner looking to build confidence or a seasoned angler chasing numbers and quality fish, spring fishing in Western North Carolina is tough to beat.
🏞️ May, June & July: Great Smoky Mountains National Park Trips
As spring turns to summer, we shift our focus to the cold, clear streams of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. May, June, and July are prime months for dry flies, eager wild trout, and picture-perfect days in the high country. These trips are ideal for anglers who want to experience classic Southern Appalachian fly fishing—beautiful water, wild fish, and a true backcountry feel. Whether it’s your first trip to the Smokies or your fiftieth, these months are hard to beat.
🏔️ August: Destination Fly Fishing in Wyoming & Montana

In August, we head west for classic, bucket-list fly fishing in Wyoming and Montana. Think big skies, iconic rivers, and trout water that seems to stretch forever. This trip is all about world-class fishing, great company, and immersing yourself in some of the best fly fishing landscapes North America has to offer.
🌎 December: Argentine Patagonia
We’re closing out 2026 with a true adventure: Argentine Patagonia. This is a dream trip for many anglers—remote waters, stunning scenery, and incredible trout fishing in one of the most beautiful places on earth. It’s the perfect way to end the year and start dreaming about the next one. On the backend of this trip with El Encuentro we will venture even further south to Lago Strobel, AKA Jurassic Lake, where 30 pound rainbows await!
Make 2026 Your Year to Fish More
Whether you’re joining us in the Smokies, fishing Delayed Harvest waters, heading west in August, or crossing hemispheres in December, 2026 is packed with opportunities to make memories, catch great fish, and explore incredible places.
