Delayed Harvest Update

If anyone has seen October, please tell him to show up for work! It has been hotter in the last five weeks than we have been all summer. Weather comes and goes so I am sure we will see drastic changes in the near future. With so many variables out of our control, below is an update on conditions and fishing reports.

Thunderstruck Private Water

Resting at an elevation of 3200' the water is just right! Wild Trophy Rainbows sippin dries is the draw here right now.

Tuckaseegee DH (Jackson and Swain County)

Duke Energy continues its drawdown of Bear Lake, also known as the East Fork. They are now at the bottom five feet of the lake and the water has turned very turbid or muddy. Wading can be a challenge but folks are still netting fish! Duke Energy will be finished with the long term release any day now and will not start filling the lake back up until November 15th. With that being said we will not see an East Fork release for a while, depending on weather.

West Fork of the Pigeon

This is a freestone stream where the water originates from near 6,000 feet in elevation. Cold, Clear and fishy! Trip reports from this DH have been fantastic with netted fish counts in double digits.

Upper Nantahala DH

Stocked today, October 8th. Will be fishing great!

Also a reminder that October 13th (10-5) we will host the 4th Smoky Mountain Fly Fishing Festival with Nantahala Brewing at their Brew Pub. For more info, refer to earlier posts.
