Happy Thanksgiving from Tuckaseegee Fly Shop!

What a year it has been so far! The Denver Broncos beat our beloved Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl, the Summer Olympics have come and gone, Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc on the low country and eastern NC, the Chicago Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years, Donald Trump won the presidential election, and wildfires have been burning through the South for the last month. With so many crazy things going on in the world today it’s easy to lose focus on the things that shape us and make us who we are. I know one thing for sure, if it wasn’t for all of the great people of Bryson City, our AWESOME customers, and the folks discovering our shop for the first time before they board the Polar Express, we wouldn’t be able to share our passion with you. So if you are reading this right now, thank you for your support! We are so thankful for the opportunity to share our love of fly fishing, fly tying, and fish tales with everyone.

In other news, it’s almost December! Which means one of our favorite local expos is quickly approaching! The Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Expo will take place December 2nd and 3rd in the Expo Building at the Western North Carolina Agriculture Center located in Fletcher, NC. This has been a great event for the past seven years and the featured speakers this time around are sure to make it a great show. World Renown, Self-Proclaimed Fly Fishing Expert and funny guy; Hank Patterson will keep you laughing with tales of beer drinking, fishing experiences and brutal honesty of what it means to be a guide. Josh Lafferty will speak on his methods of targeting bass and musky on the fly. Jeff Trigg will enlighten the audience with his tactics and techniques for fishing the legendary White River System. The South Holston and the Watauga River will be the focus of Patrick Folkrod’s presentations. Abbi Bagwell of Flymen Fishing Company will teach the audience about Blueline Fishing the Blue Ridge. These speakers can be found in the tents within the expo center throughout both days. A large casting pond is the center of the show where attendees can cast the latest rods in the industry and stand in on casting demonstrations.

Tuckaseegee Fly Shop will be in attendance and we plan on bringing some great deals along with us. We'll have gear from brands like Thomas & Thomas, Simms, Umpqua, Sage, and many more at our booth along with locally tied flies. Some of these deals are just too good to mention online so you'll have to swing by the expo and see for yourself! We hope everyone gets a chance to check out this awesome event!
